And you take a moment
Promise me this:
That you’ll stand by me forever
But if God forbid fate should step in
And force us into a goodbye
If you have children someday
When they point to the pictures
Please tell them my name
Tell them how the crowds went wild
Tell them how I hope they shine
Long live the walls we crashed through
I had the time of my life with you
So, we’ve already made it almost completely through day two of 2011. Time flies when you’re having fun, right?
In our lives we have so many goals and dreams and just small little random fun things we want to do, but we put on hold because little things pop up here and there. Well, I’ve decided I want to start doing those little things.
Sure, I know I’m not going to go out and travel the world and be a rock star, but you know what… I can do some of the things I’ve always wanted to do and I can even have fun doing them with my family and friends.
My wife and I worked incredibly hard last year and I am so very proud of her for that. We took very little time to ourselves and with our third child on the way, our time is going to be even more limited.
There are just so many things I want to start saving to do, or actually accomplish. I want to skydive, snorkel and even take my boys on a hot air balloon. I want to take the boys on a helicopter tour and a small airplane like my parents used to do for us. I want to go to those events like I had growing up. Airshows and nights at the beach.
I want to travel to New York city and Washington D.C. and see all the monuments. I also want to make a trip to the Purple Heart Hall of Honor to remember my best friend.
I’m sure there are so many things we all want to do and I wont accomplish them all this year, but I’m determined to get started.
“And I had these dreams in them I learned to play guitar.
Maybe cross the country, become a rock star.”
Here we are. It’s 2011. It’s been a long and tedious journey through 2010, but we made it. I’m thankful for those who helped me along the way. During 2010 I lost a friend that I held close to my heart. In fact, he was my best friend. During high school we were in a band together. We pretty much spent every day together writing and recording music. Back then you never think about how life will change later on down the road. You don’t think about the paths that you will take when you go your separate ways. It’s ironic to me that I left the band we all started to join the Army, but in the end, Paul was called to heaven doing his duty in the Army.
Besides Paul passing away, we also lost my father-in-law. He also left us before he should have, but there was nothing we could do. Wow, looking back on it 2010 was just one mountain after another.
However, there were some positive turning points through the past year. During the year the company I worked for almost went under. Luckily, the owners did their best to find new owners and most of the managers and sales team, like myself, got to keep our jobs working for a new company. We’re now making more sales and have benefits and a stable income. I’m thankful for that.
The best news of all in 2010 though was that my wife and I are having another baby. Sure, this is number three for us, but the joy of having a child never gets old. Throughout the year some of my most memorable moments are those with my boys and my wife. I wouldn’t trade a single moment for more money or for fame.
I can’t wait to see what adventures come in 2011. Whatever comes, I know I have two fantastic guardian angels watching over me. I look forward to writing more about my experiences.
